In Hokkaido, Japan, there’s a unique subspecies of bird known as the Shima enaga, or the long-tailed bushtit. They are tiny, white, fluffy birds that look like cotton balls hoping around the trees. We saw them while cross country skiing near Sapporo, Japan. They remind me of our chickadees. I was delighted to find this adorable fabric at a fabric store in Kyoto. I used it for the belly of this hoodie, along with a unique herringbone from Gloucester, United Kingdon. This hoodie is very international. This is the last Shima enaga hoodie I will make, as I’m out of this super cute fabric. It has one large kangaroo pocket with very soft interior.
Handmade with love in West Virginia.
